was earlier offered the role that Konkona Sen Sharma is doing. This is
Jaya Bachchan's first film in three years, her last film being Nikhil Advani's Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003).
The production of the film gathered some controversy as a lightman of the film drowned in the Ganga River. [5] and during a shooting session in Varanasi,
things got out of hand when bodyguards of Rani Mukerji started beating
media persons and fans, chasing them away from the shooting spot of the
film. A political and media storm followed, as various groups insisted
that Mukerji should have stopped the security guards. Rani then
apologized to the media, citing that the media were trying to get too
close to both her and Konkona Sen Sharma. [6] Some scenes involving Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan were shot in Bern, Switzerland and Spain.
